Something has been kicking my ass for the past 2 days. Either I have a cold or for the first time, I have become a victim of allergies. I took some allergy medicine this morning so maybe that will help.
After knitting for a bit on the Sock Candy socks, I discovered that my gauge was way off. I frogged and started with a new pattern-Ribbed Lace from Sensational Knitted Socks. Now usually my lazy ass picks the easiest to memorize, 2 row repeat pattern but not this time. Ribbed Lace is a 24 row repeat but actually pretty easy to do. I think it works much better with the yarn too.
It is a good thing my blog isn't a friend or relative because I would have some serious making up to do. I am about 2 weeks late but June is my Blogiversary Month! To celebrate 2 years of Wrap and Turn I am holding a contest.
To enter, simply leave a comment with your favorite blog or podcast. I am alway son the lookout for another knitter's perspective on things. The contest will end on June 30th at 6pm PST. I will randomly choose a winner from the comments.
The prize- 2 skeins of Knitpicks Memories in Flower Power, a color that is no longer in production. I am sure a few other trinkets will fall into the box too. Good Luck!
Wrap and Turn is officially 2 years old this month. Yes, I forgot about it too ( it was on the 13th) but to make for it I am going to have a contest. Details are coming soon...
My rediscoverd knitting mojo has led me to start way too many projects. Here is a list of the current WIPs:
Tote bag in TLC Essentials
Mix and Mingle Throw from Knitpicks Pillow #2 Chevron Scarf and my newest project- Cobblestone socks in Sock Candy
I like to keep my projects down to 3 at the most. The Chevron Scarf may br frogged for the time being. There is only a few rows done so I wouldn't feel too bad about it. The pillows are going really quickly too.
Here is a pic of pillow #1- Love it and it will be perfect in the new living room.
Now to just keep myself from casting on anything new for a few days...
I have finally gotten back into the groove. I finished the first of 2 pillows last night. Just need to sew on the back and stuff! The second is based on the log cabin blankets in Mason-Dixon Knitting.
Looking through my stash, I found some Blue Moon Sock Candy I bought at Madrona in Jan. Cotton socks would be perfect right now especially since I wore some wool ones on Sat. and my feet were looking for somewhere to breathe. All Swatched and ready to go. I just need to find the right pattern! Internet, here I come...
After my 2 hour drive home last night (Everett to Auburn-got to love it), I was ready for a glass of wine and some knitting time. I cast on for pillow cover. I am using the dice method here. Assign each color a number and rool the dice to see which color you are going to knit with. Roll again for the number of rows. It is mindless knitting but I really haven't had that for a while. This should get done fairly quickly. Now to find some fabric for the back.
With one project done, I am ready to start the next. I could concentrate on finishing the other 2 projects I have going but why? I have narrowed it down to 2 new fixes. Either the Venezia Sweater from the SnB calendar (I have had the pattern in my purse since March) or a couple of pillows for the new house. Everything we have is some shade of brown. Time to add some colorful pillows! I have all day to overthink it and should get started tonight.
Mission accomplished! I finished the Jaywalkers last night at PurlyGirls. I started these socks in the old house and it seems like it took me forever to get them done. I am a month behind in the Socktopia themes so I may take a little sock breather and regroup.
Jaywalker from Magknits Yarn: Lost the band but gifted from LadyLungDoc Needles: Size 1 addis
After a being MIA at Purlygirls for about a month, I plan on returning tonight. I really need that 2-3 hours of time set aside just to knit. With everything else going now, my knitting has suffered. I could possibly finish the Jaywalkers if all goes well.
In other news, our TV dies last night. It is only 5 years old! No picture, just sound. Of course the warranty expired last year. So now we are in the market for a new TV. I have to say though the projection TV was just too big so I will be ok replacing it with a flatscreen.
We have one room left to paint in the new house. Of course, it is the 2 story vaulted ceiling dining/living room that hubby swore he could do himself. That was prior to the ER visit. We had a quote from a painter for $800 plus paint. Yesterday, we got another quote- $500 plus paint! Sold! He is coming today to paint the room. He says 10:30-5pm but I am thinking more of 1pm-9pm. I have people coming over tomorrow afternoon so this has to get done so we can set everything up. I feel like it is the last day of Trading Spaces and we have to bust this out.
I know my blog has been photo-less for a while. I am going to try to post more photos. My schedule has changed since we moved and I have lost my time in the morning when I had usually taken/posted pics but here are the latest updates.
First up-Jaywalker. This is the longest it has taken me to finish a pair of socks. I have to say that these are dragging a bit but I am almost there and I do like them.
Next up - my tote. I am using some TLC Amore in Chocolate Cherry. The pattern is from the Vogue Stitchionary Vol. 1 called Diagonal Cluster Lace. I am going to us a loop handle on this one. As much as I hate acrylic, it has it place and I think this tote is it.
Tired and a little lighter in the pockets but I am back. We actually stayed an extra day and spent some time in Reno- never been and it is really ok if I don't go back.
Tahoe was great! Beautiful weather. Customers had a good times and most everything went smoothly. I did have a couple of drinks on Sat and ended up taking a little nap but the bosses were out golfing and never missed me.
Knitting wise- I started my new tote on the plane and will post a pic tomorrow. I also had my copy of Knit 2 Together waiting for me when I got back so that should lead to more inspiration! I am ready to sit, catch up on my DVR and knit tonight!
After a couple of weeks of inspirationless knitting, I am ready to knit! Last night I found a stitch pattern for a bag I am going to knit out of some TLC Amore (acrylic!) I have. I have cast on and am ready to get going.
I should have some time this weekend to get a good chunk done. It is our 2nd Annual VIP trip to Lake Tahoe and we are leaving tomorrow. Last year we had 30 people sign up. This year we have 112! Everything is pretty much set- Slot Tournament, Welcome Reception, 11 Shuttles, golf tournament, fishing trip, company dinner, etc... I least i know that in between my hosting duties I will have tome on the plane and in the airport to get some rows done.
So this weekend, I picked the hottest day of the year to paint our stairs and hallways. While hubby was at work I got most of the stairway and the upstairs hall painted. I was ready to quit after he got home but he wanted to paint the downstairs hall too since everything was out. Sounded good. That was until hubby fell off our stepstool, hit his head on the door jam, hit is foot on something and landed on the bathroom floor. He had huge knots on the top of his foot and the back of his head so off to the ER we went. I, of course, grabbed my knitting but really didn't knit that much while we waited 2 hours to see the doctor- a few rows on Jaywalkers. I was way too into the people watching. Anyway, 2 x-rays later, he is ok but at home on some pain meds. I think his is much more open to having painters come in to paint our living rooms with vaulted ceilings.
I am a 34 year old Casino Marketing Manager from Seattle who loves to knit; not to mention stash yarn, read about knitting and annoy my family by obsessing over it.
