Hold on for one more day..

Wilson Phillips is in my head as I ponder which project to take on next. The Om bag is done with pics to come shortly. I am uninspired for a new project but at the same time eager to start one. If I wait a day or two, the new Magknits and Knitty should be out. Until then, I guess I will keep on singing...

Some day somebody's gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don't you know?
Don't you know things can change
Things'll go your way
If you hold on for one more day

Oh God help me!!! I think my ginger vodka/kahula/grand mariner drink has finally hit me.

It happens once a year...

Yes, it has happened again this year. I have the urge to knit yet another Clapotis. This would be #4 for me. I wear these quite alot and have one in purple/pink, green/brown and teal. Why not have one in red. I have the yarn. I casted on for Here and There Cables from Scarf Style this morning but after one repeat, I didn't like the yarn I was using. By the end of the night, I may be headed down the clapotis road once again (and then cursing that choice once I get to the middle repeat section). Can't say I didn't warn myself...

Guilty Pleasure Wednesday

Barbie

Growing up, I loved Barbies. The dresses, the shoes, the townhome (which is still in my parent's garage). I was a bit of a Barbie snob. Aside from my Donny and Marie and Princess Leia doll, if it wasn't a true Barbie, I wasn't having it. I outgrew it in Jr. High but in college, saw the Scarlett O'Hara versions and of course, had to grab those. That started my pseudo Barbie collection. I have 4 Scarletts, all of the Disney Princesses, 2 Marilyn Monroes, 2 Sandys from Grease (good girl and leather outfit), the infamous butterfly tattoo Barbie and various others. If friends' daughters are playing with a Barbie, I have to sit with them for a few minutes and ask them about it. I guess some things we never out grow. For me it is the ill-proportioned, classic Barbie.

Snow Day!

Snow day for step-son means snow day for me! We have over 6" of snow at our house. For Seattle that is incredible. We have already been out to have a snowball fight and make angels. My big plans for the day? Knit and make cookies. The domestic vibe is definitly going on today.

I thought I would give you an update on my current projects too. My Om Yoga Bag is coming along although not in time for my last yoga class but that made me want to get it done even more. Lugging around a mat with no bag isn't too fun.
The Funky colored striped socks are going a bit more slowly. I think my current washcloth/dishcloth obsession has put the socks on the back burner. I did knit a few rows on them last night as I watched the snow fall.

One last picture, my Beauty and the Beast inspired photo from this morning.

Starting the list

I have been asked by about 4 people what I would like to Christmas/b-day so last night I tried to start a list. Right now there are a whole 3 things on it: a travel hairdryer for the gym, sock blockers and workout clothes ( although I am inbetween sizes and not really sure if I want clothes as a gift). I seriously spent an hour coming up with those 3 things. I don't really want yarn but I would like knitting related things. Any must-haves you can suggest?

How I spent my Thanksgiving Holiday...

Wow! It has been a while since I posted. I didn't even realize. Sorry everyone.

Thanksgiving here was great! We spend the day with my parent and some family friends from Maine. Yes, I did hit the Friday sales but like last year, I headed out about 7am after the initial madness was over. Ironically, nothing I bought was on sale but I did get some Christmas shopping done.

For that past 2 years, I have sold some of my knitted items at a craft fair the weekend after Thanksgiving but decided not to this year. Because of that, I had a serious case of cabin fever. Four days off with nothing really planned is too much for me. That feeling culminated yesterday when I decided to build this:

Yes, that would be the Lego Millennium Falcon, a gift to all of us last year from Santa and one that has been sitting in the box half-done for 6 months. I started from the beginning and finished it in about 2 hours. I am worse than a little kid with these. I love them!

I also worked on more washclothes. The pile continues to grow. I have to say, I am ready to get to work today.

Guilty Pleasure Wednesday

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

I once told a friend that I will watch just about anything that has a mediocre star doing something they don't normally do, ie: Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Duets, The Celebrity Paranormal Project, etc... The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is no exception. I can really only stand about an hour of it but I watch at least that much every year. I love to see "my favorite NBC stars" trying to lipsync while waving and riding a float. What a great recipe for some holiday cheer. So you can bet tomorrow at 9am, I will be watching while I make my Apple Crisp and Sweet Potatoes.

Hope everyone has a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Sometimes he notices...

I was casting on for my latest pair of socks on Sunday during the TV football marathon. I thought my hubby was intently watching the game when he turned to me and said, "Do you always cast on the way? I have never really noticed it before. Do you always use one needle for that?" Here we are in the middle of the Seahawks game and he is looking at me knit?! I was in shock. I guess he does pay attention on what I am knitting.

KISS me!

Here they are- the finished Keep It Simple Stupid socks. I really like them. So much better plain than with the pattern I had initially started these in.
Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) Socks
Yarn: Merino Wool from Two Waters Fiberworks
Needles: Size 1 circs

Here is a sneal peek of the next pair on the needles. Yes, I dyed that lovely combination myself. Yikes!

KISS and Mr. Belvedere

I have finished my KISS socks yesterday (thanks again to football on TV). No pics yet as I spent an hour taking pictures of food for work. I was camera weary by the end. I will post one soon.

In an effect to reduce the sock yarn stash, I immediately started another pair using the yarn last hank of yarn I dyed myself. I have to say it is a really strange mix of teal, lime green and yellow.

Watching Desperate Housewives last night, one of the upset mothers caught my eye. I had seen her in something else before. It had already hit me that Gabby's gay friend was in Connie and Carla but this actress was torturing me. She was in something from the '80's. I racked my brain. Not Facts of Life. Not a John Hughes movie. Not Silver Spoons. Stuff like that really bugs me until I figure it out. I actually had to look this one up online. She was on Mr. Belvedere, Joannie Loves Chachi and also appeared in Naked Gun as the Driver's Ed student who gives the middle finger. Ahhhh- Relief!

what day is it?

I am so off this year with holidays. First of all, I started shopping for our Christmas promotion in October and decorated the sites on Monday. Then, last night we had an early Thanksgiving at the in-laws. I have no concept of any holiday time frame right now. I have been thinking 3 months ahead but have yet to buy a single gift for anyone. It is going to be a great Christmas season!

Is there a cure?

I have washclothitis. It takes you over very quickly and there is no known cure. I didn't start getting symptoms until about 3 months ago. There was a time where I looked down upon washcloths as a "grandma gift".
Now I have this to show for myself. It has spread beyond control. Solids, varigated, patterned- the strains are endless. My shopping habits are even affected.

At the store today I bought this peppermint body wash because I knew at home I had the perfect cotton in my stash to make a matching washcloth. For who or when? I have no clue.

Beware- once you start seeing signs of washclothitis, it will consume you...

Not Much Here

Not too much knitting news. My plans to knit away last night and watch Dancing with the Stars but all that changed when I got a call at 3:45 yesterday from a vendor with Sonics tickets. I waffled a bit since basketball is my least favorite sport but they were in a suite so why not? We got there and not only was there free food but free beer and wine so all was well. I game seemed much better after a couple of glasses.

I did turn my heel this morning on the second of the KISS socks. I have to be around on Sat for our new couch to be delivered so I should finish it then. I am also contemplating getting out groceries delivered this weekend since I hate shopping before a holiday. Frees up more time to knit too!

Om

I am not a big fan of lace patterns. I don't think I will ever make a shawl (never say never...) but with that said, I do like this bag. Maybe it is the way too simple "lace" pattern or the praciticality of it, I don't know. I do know it is fun to knit and I hope to have it ready for the next yoga class on Sunday.

BTW: Candle party is over. With 5 people there and a couple outside orders, the total was over $500! I could not believe it. That means I get over $75 credit (great, more candles...) and 2 items half off. I honestly looked in the catalog for over 2 hours trying to find something and settled on a fireplace insert for our upstairs fireplace that we never use. I actually think it will be cute.

Saved by the Bell

After being in shock and awe after seeing both Tiifani-Amber Theissen and watch Elizabeth Berkley, Mario Lopez on Dancing with the Stars (do they still hang out or are they riding some coat tails?), I couldn't help but put Saved By the Bell up as my next guilty pleasure. I will honestly watch this show whenever it is on. At the gym, I get on the elliptical next to that TV. On vacation, we watch it while waking up in the morning. Like the Brady Bunch, I have seen every episode a million times and can usually tell in the first 10 seconds what episode it is. Favorites: Buddy Bands, Dance Contest with Casey Kasem, Jesse's Druggie episode. Most Random: Friends Forever Dream Band!? I will cop up to this too- The College Years doesn't really annoy me too much either. Yes, you can mock me...

Knitting and candles

I started the Yoga Bag last night at Purly Girls and it is going fairly quickly. The strap is done and I am about 2" into the bag. I think the varigated purple, green and grey will look great with the purple mat I have. Pics soon...

Today is the Partylite party I volunteered to host at work after a couple of drinks. I am amazed by the amount of stuff people are talking about buying. I get 15-25% of the total to spend. I am not a huge candle person so it will be interesting to see what hits me as I look through the catalog.

Side note: I had the best beer last night, Hop Trip by Deschutes! Only 50 barrells made. Makes me sad.

Binge and Purge

I have not made a yarn purchase over $5 in over a month. Really, the only yarn I have bought has been dishcloth cotton. Unbelievable! I have been using my stash for various projects. What a difference organizing and logging my yarn collection has made.

What to start next?

With only a sock left on the needles, I spent last night looking for inspiration for a new project using yarn from my stash. I have narrowed it down to 3 items. Bamboo lace scarf, Yoga Mat bag from Stitch n Bitch Nation and another Sweater from 1000 Sweaters. I am leaning towards the yoga mat since right now I have a loosely roll mat lying in the bag of my car. I'm sure I'll spend way too much time thinking about it today.

Why I Love Sundays...

Two finished projects!

First my Pink Striped hat. I rethought this a bit and you know, I am never really going to wear a hat/scarf in baby pink with purple and white stripes. So I ripped back a few inches and made a semi-cute hat that may see the light of day this winter.

Pink Striped Hat
Cascade 220, Lamb's Pride Bulky and something Noro I got on sale and lost the tag

Needles: size 10.5

I also finished my Purl scarf. Next to Clapotis, I wear my Purl scarf from last year the most so why not knit up another one.

Purl Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts
Lamb's Pride Worsted, Kid Silk Haze and Cascade Fiesta/Copa
Needles: Size 15

One warm foot

Don't ask me why but for some reason I decided to knit one sock at a time for this pair. I finished sock #1 last night and immediately cast on for the second to avoid SSS. This is why I have been knitting 2 socks at once. Nevermind all that though- I cannot wait to wear these!
I am going to try and sign up for a fair isle classes at Madrona this morning. I have never tried fair isle and after 6 hours I should either be very comfortable or very overwhelmed. Anyone else going in January?

Belly Dancing

Being half Lebanese, I have been to many weddings and events with belly dancers. I have taken classes and have 2-3 different DVD's. So when I got engaged, did I worry about a dress? No. A band? No. The cake or flowers? Not these either. The first thing I went on a search for was a belly dancer. Sabura-pictured here, danced at my wedding. BTW, she is 60! I love the movement, control and feel of belly dancing. I guess I shouldn't feel too guilty about it. It is a true art form.

Santa is back

I guess I am more organized than the prior marketing manager. Instead of 15 hours to deliver prizes, it only took 6 which is good considering the 10" of rain that fell here yesterday. By the time I got home, I was ready to take off my wet clothes and sit down to some Seahawks and knitting. I was pretty non-committal last night and worked on my socks, the scarf and started another washcloth. I have said this about 20 times but I love this sock colorway! Maybe because it matches my blog!

BTW: Friday I got an email from Sarah saying I won her blogversary contest! Stitch markers are headed my way. Thanks Sarah!

Back from clamming

Our weekend was a little wet. We were out clamming for about 2 hours, complete with matching Gorton's fisherman jackets, and it rained hard almost the entire time. 2 hours and 5 razor clams. The limit is 15 per person so it was a little dishearting leaving with so little. It was fun anyway and great people watching.

I worked on my purl scarf on the car ride over. It kind of has a disco/sparkle feel to it so the jury is still out. We also made a quick bathroom stop at a walmart and I picked up more cotton for dishclothes. My cotton stash is almost as bad as my sock yarn stash now...Don't tell Hubby.

I am off to deliver 500 prizes to 4 casinos today. Last time they did this, it took 15 hours, so wish me luck!

Off To Westport

We are off to Westport tomorrow to do some clam digging. I am trying to forget the fact that it is supposed to rain like a mutherf--ker and low tide is at 5pm. I really see us wearing garbage bags as ponchos, digging in the dark with only headlights to guide us.

I am on a stash-busting craze and I have a urge to knit a scarf so this morning I start on a Purl scarf using stash! Lamb's pride worsted, Kidsilk Haze and Copa. Should make for an easy car project for the car ride to the coast.

BTW- Bringing my balls to the meeting worked! I convinced 6 guys that my idea was a good one and they even approved the next step up from what I originally proposed. On top of that I got 2 phone calls saying how impressed they were. My jaw was on the floor...

Rainbow Brite!

Another washcloth done! I love the Peaches n Cream so much more than Sugar n Cream colors. I think these washcloths are just a way to get me to avoid/neglect my pink hat. I am not sure if I am really going to wear it and I could BO now and still have a cute hat.

We are going to Safeco Field tonight to get our holiday card picture taken. We have Mariner's season tickets at work and as the contact person, I got invited to have our pic taken on the field with a personaized message on the diamond vision. Plus a tour of hte visitor's locker room and the press room. Should be a fun night!

Did I just grow a set?

Yesterday, one of our managers at work told me to come to our meeting today with "a set of balls" because he wanted to hear my opinion on a project. I stopped at Target on the way in and bought some malted Milk Balls, Chocolate peanut butter balls, and caramel balls. I am bringing some balls to the meeting. Wish me luck!

Days of our Lives

Part of my daily morning routine is catching yesterdays episode of Days on SoapNet. I am not an avid fan but I do know that Hope is carrying Bo's baby even though she thinks it is Patrick's, EJ's fingerprints on the the mysterious envelope sent to Sammy, John Black dyes his hair and tea seems to be the answer to all their problems. Ok, I guess I am more of a fan than I thought. It began with my mom watching it everyday. I didn't really get into it until Marlena was possessed and we watched it at work during college. I rediscovered it when I was laid off a couple of years ago and now that there are reruns on at 7am, I catch it when I can. No, I don't eat bon-bons or buy Soap Opera Digest but I do want to see the return on Stefano. Another notch on the geek post...
