A new start?

Right now I have 3 projects going- Jaywalkers, Mix and Mingle throw and the Chevron Scarf. Honestly, I am lacking inspiration in all of them. I have worked a bit on the jaywalkers but hte others have been untouched for over 2 weeks.

I am going to Tahoe next week and looking for a good airport/plane project. The throw is too big and I hope to get the socks nearly done by then. I have an urge to use up some stash and make another Counterpane Bag or something similar but do not want to start a 4th project. Should I frog the 2" I have on the Chevron Scarf and start again when the inspiration strikes?

Speaking of the Counterpane Bag, do you know of a good knit but not felted bag pattern? I looked through all my books last night and came up with nothing.

How I spent my 1 day vacation...

Ahhhh, the first day I have to myself at the new house. When I really should be going through the last few boxes, I decide that it is a good day to paint. Not a room but a painting. It has been over 2 years since I pulled out the paints but it is much cheaper to painting something than to buy something to put on the wall. I popped in a couple movies- Xanadu and Confetti- and had at it. Hubby called it cute but I don't think it is too bad for the first after a 2 year break.

I also spent some time on my Jaywalkers. For some reasons the inspiration hasn't been there on these but after turing the heel, I feel much better about them.

Taking one for the team

It is very rare that all three of us can agree on a movie to go see. So we end up going together once or twice a year. Yesterday, the three of us went to see Pirate of the Caribbean. I saw the first one at the drive-in and fell asleep during the middle hour or so. Saw the second one in the theatre and stayed awake. This time, not so much. I actually started dozing off about 15 minutes in it. I don't know if it was the fact that it was the first time I have had since we moved to sit and not think about anything or if it was the lack of interest. Step-son had no idea I took a little nap and actually hubby didn't notice either until I mentioned something to him. I guess I have another year to rest up for the next family movie outing.

I've been tagged

Knit Happens tagged me with the 7 things meme.

The rules: Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those who are tagged need to write on their own blog those 7 facts as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven other people and list their names on your blog. Then you leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

1. I was the 4th grade Skipper of the Year in school which meant I got 100% of all my spelling/definition tests and got to take my family to Skippers (a local fish n' chips place) for dinner.

2. I have to have my alarm clock set 10 minutes ahead even though I rarely late and never use the snooze button.

3. My husband and I met in an AOL chatroom over 7 years ago. (insert nerd comment here)

4. I love anything retro kitschy.

5. I catch myself watching the following whenever they are on tv: Saved by the Bell, The Babysitter's Seduction, Girls Next Door, the Godfather and Full House.

6. I still have my good luck Dale Murphy big-head tee shirt I wore under my softball uniform in high school. I don't know how much luck it really brought since I collided with another player and had to get stitches in my lip while I was wearing it.

7. My grandfather owned a fish stand at the Pike Place Market and also worked for local seafood restuarants. We had salmon, clams and crab at least once a week for dinner. I grew up thinking everyone did.

Now to tag others-

Tour Damage and more

Friday, I visited a couple of my LYS's as part of the local LYS Tour. I have to say I am pretty proud of the unintentional bargin shopping I did.

First stop was The Knittery in Renton. I found 2 skeins of Lorna's Laces- Pioneer and Lakeview- so I could join the Chevron Scarf bandwagon. Love it!

Next stop was Renaissance Yarns in Kent. I bought all of this and actually saved more than I spent. The Duet yarn was 10% off. The random Lorna's black skein was "damaged" and was 90% off and the other four were 60% off. That plus I got an extra 10% for being a frequent shopper.

The four Ella Rae yarns are going to be pillows for our newly painted family room...

See, it does need some color. Nothing but browns here.

We also painted the kitchen this weekend and I am so in love with it. Excuse the general mess but I find myself looking over there just to admire the color. Kind of like yarn, I guess.

Home Sweet Home (but still in boxes)

We haven't completely unpacked yet. Between Little League, nutrition classes and other stuff, we are lucky yo get more than 1 box unpacked a night. But here we are- a couple of pictures of the rooms most put together, believe it or not...

The office/craft room is getting there but we still have to find out where all this crap goes.

The bedroom is the most put together of all the rooms. More pics to come!

Baby Steps

We are one step closer to getting back to normal at home-the computer was set-up last night and we are back online. Of course the first thing I did was download the podcasts I missed over the past 2 weeks. Perfect for the longer commute I have now. I listened to Stash and Burn this morning and will listen to Lime and Violet tonight. That makes for a much better time in the car!

I took some pics of the house this morning but had to run out the door and will get tose on the blog tonight.

On the knitting front- I have frogged the loopy pillow and have decided to start a pillow based on the Vegas Scarf. I can't find the link but you know, the one where y ou use the dice to determine the colors you use and # of rows. Great way to use up the stash and it should be a quick knit!

LYS Tour

Our local LYS tour is this weekend. I really want to get to a few shops around town but in reality I will probably only hit a few of the closest ones. Renaissance Yarns, The Knittery, and maybe a few more.

We still have a ton of unpacking to do and after a week off work, I came back with really not much done by my assistant (oh Joy!) so it looks like I will be stopping in on Sunday for a few hours to get caught up. Is that cause for yet another yarn buy?

I'm Still Here!!

Back at work, no internet at home yet.

The move went pretty well. Although we showed up at the new house with 2 car loads on Monday afternoon and the sellers didn't realize they had to be out that day so we didn't actually get in until 11:30 pm after they rented a truck and got their stuff out.

We are still living out of boxes but I have painted 4 rooms and set up 2 of them. We just need to put together out bed frame and dresser. Pics will come soon!

No knitting to speak off for the past week but the LYS Shop Hop is this weekend!!!

Distractions

Everything is signed!!! We should get the keys to our new house today!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course this weekend, when I should have been packing the last of the little things, I went to a sale at my LYS. I had the intent to buy only a second skein of sock yarn for the Chevron Scarf but ended up with more, of course.

5 skeins of Navy wool at $4 each for the Venezia Sweater from the SnB calendar

2 skeins of Lorna's Laces in Devon, a yummy turquoise varigated color

Not much I know but I was great retail therapy for the hellish Friday we had. Now to concentrate on the move...

Bending over Backwards

I am so ready to have all of this house stuff done. Oh yeah, we signed but our buyer is threatening not to sign if we don't give her the keys a day earlier than we have agreed on a month ago. She also wanted to know if she could have her fencers come over and build the fence this weekend before she has possession. Um---NO!!! She wanted access to the garage a day earlier so she could start moving her stuff in. NO again!! We have caved to the giving her the keys early. I never knew I was such a flexible dormat.

Here I go again

With the Seahawks socks done, I was ready to start my next project. (Nevermind, I already have 2 WIPs) I thought About jumping on the Chevron Scarf bandwagon but ran into a slight obstacle- both my Last Minute Knitted Gifts and sock yarn leftovers are packed! Why did I do that so early? Anyway, I started my 3rd pair of Jaywalkers with some great self-striping yarn LadyLungDoc sent me. Isn't it great? It also fits in with May's theme on Socktopia.
BTW, We sign on the house today!! We still don't get hte keys until Monday but that is one step closer to have this whole thing finished.
