Major Rant

Dear "Neighbor":

WTF are you doing?! When potential home buyers stop buy to ask you how the neighborhood is please don't go into a huge discussion about how you are legal action with the owners of the house next door and tell them that they don't really want to move into our house. Most of all, don't come down to talk to us like nothing ever happened and you are the friendliest neighbor around.

Thanks to you, we lost the buyers and potentially the house we want to buy, not to mention that now we have to bring the price of our house down. Nothing like a stressful Friday to start the weekend! Reason # 236 to move...

Fingers Crossed

We put in our counter-offer to the buyers last night and will know by 6PM today if they accept it. If everything is ok, we will be in our new house this time next month!

Roll Call

I know it has been a while since I have posted an update on my projects. So, here we go...

Yarn-Over Cable Socks

This yarn- LL Confetti- is much more pastel than I the others I have and it is a nice change. The pattern was ok but I have to say that for socks, I am a KISS girl. I just love plain old stockinette or a simple rib.

Something Red or in this case, popsicle blue)

This is try #2 on this and the Cotton-Ease is working much better than the Cascade 220. This should be a great Summertime sweater and it is mindless knitting for good American Idol watching!

BTW- Wish us luck! We have an offer on the house. It isn't quite what we were hoping but we may be able to make it work with a counter offer.

Any excuse to shop and not work-out

So the sock yarn I bought on Monday will not be enough for Hubby's socks. What is a girl to do but buy more yarn. One skein of Navy sock yarn from Knitpicks also yielded a set of size 0 circs (Monkey socks are calling) and another skein of Bare to dye once we move and I find my Kool-aid stash.

Another 2 realtors have been by since Monday. I feel an offer coming in this weekend or at least I am crossing my fingers for one.

I am only going half-ass on the Yarn-over cable socks and not continuing the pattern down the foot. The pattern was not holding my interest and I wanted to see what the yarn would look like in plain ole stockinette.

Did I mention a couple of weeks ago I showed off my grace and flair by falling down the stairs? Well, I did and I think I did something to my foot. I may have also overdone it at the gym (ha! ha! ha!) It may be time to have someone look at it.

Hawks and socks

After being badgered by hubby more than once, I finally broke down and bought some Seahawk colored yarn to make some socks for him. I visited a LYS for the first time yesterday knowing they carried the yarn and somehow that one skein was all I came out with. I do think I will need to buy some plain yarn for the heel and toe since he wears a size 13 shoe and the skein only has 400 yds. So next up on the needles, Seahawk socks complete with Deion Branch gloves green.

really?

Looking at my SnB calendar today, I see that Fun Fur Stripes is picked as a Fave Fiber. Really? Am I missing something here?

We had 4 people look at the house this weekend and more than 20 people take flyers. The realtor open house is this week and a public open house this weekend. Interesting things to notice is you are selling- We came home twice to our door being unlocked. Loverly!

Knitting-wise, I have worked more on the yarn-over cable socks and am on the heel flap now. I also watched 2 episodes of the Sopranos (yet another thing I am late on) and knit on Something Red. The sleeves are on holders and I have started the body!

Behind the times

Ok, I realize that sometimes it takes me a bit to get onboard with things. With that said, my newest find are podcasts. I have been listening to them at the gym and in my car on the way to work.

My first find was Stash and Burn. The main theme here is knitting from your stash- I can so relate.

The newest find is Lime and Violet. Again, 6 months behind times. I am listening to episode 1 now and I am loving it.

Who knows maybe in another 6 months maybe I will find something else semi-out-of-date to obsess over.

Pleasantly Surprised

It is amazing how a yarn in a skein can seem so bland but once you wind it and start knitting, you love it. Case in point. Lorna's Laces Confetti. I have had these skeins for a long time and never felt inspired by them but when I started my latest pair of sock, Iopted for some of my older yarn. After winding it, the colors popped and I really like the way it is knitting up. The pattern is from Sensational Knitted Socks- Yarn Over Cable.

Just like fishing

I am really not liking the whole process of selling a house. This is my first time at it and it reminds me of fishing. You put your bait/ad out and wait for a bite. Some are just nibbles. Other you catch but have to throw back. Others fall off the line as you reel them in. You just wait for the one perfect fish/seller.

Our house has only been on the market for 2 days and I am SO anxious. I call home hoping to hear a message from a realtor wanting to see the place. I am already tired of making sure the house looks perfect every morning before I leave, ie: picking up my latest projects, cleaning the bathrooms. Who really lives like that?

Chevron Scarf

I have been wondering what to do with the 6 skeins of Koigu I have. They have been sitting in my stash for about a year if not more. I am totally inspired by this.

I have had Last Minute Knitted Gifts for a couple of years too and never put the 2 together. Maybe it was the color scheme in the book that threw me off. I think I found my next sock yarn project- after the socks I started last night.

C'est Fini!

I finished the Blue Striped Socks tonight. I started these at the end of Jan., definetly the longest it has taken me to finish a pair of socks. It was the yarn that just didn't do anything for me. I will wear these but they are not my favorite.
Blue Striped Socks- My own pattern
Yarn: Trekking, not sure of colorway
Needles: size 1 addis

Bust it!

I kicked some knitting ass yesterday. I guess watching 2 ho-hum movies- Deep Blue Sea and Deep Impact- offers plenty of knitting time. I went from being half way done witht he gusset on my socks to having 3 more decrease rounds on the toe.

My majority of my yarn stash is in a temporary home at the in-laws. I have kept my sock yarn at home so I guess that will be the majority of my projects for a bit.

I promise a pic of the Thorn and Thistle soon.

What a Week!

Here is what I have planned for today after one hell of a week-actual real live knitting!!!
Here is a tally of odd things that happened at our VIP parties (and why my job never gets old):
2- The number for married men who asked my assistant to be their girlfriend
3- The number of times my boss got hit on
2- The number of women who asked if I wanted a taste of their drink
4- The number of steak and scampi dinners I ate this week
4- The number of languages we need translators for next year
86- The number of people who showed up but didn't RSVP
35- The number of centerpieces we made
200- The amount of money spent at IKEA for said centerpieces (not bad)
After working 10-12 hour days this week, I was ready for a good night's sleep. Of course, it being St. Pat's Day the neighbors threw a party and we were awaken at 2am by people yelling and singing outside. It was my turn to call the cops and I did. It took them an hour to get there which I understand, it wasn't an emergency. In that hour though, someone decided it would be ok to park in our driveway and go to the neighbors. How considerate! Completely pissed off, I opened our window and yelled at him 5 times to move his car but that didn't really help. When the cops came they asked him to move it but it still didn't happen until 30 min. after they left.
With all that said, our house is going on the market tomorrow. So anyone how doesn't mind partying neighbors and wants a great view, new kitchen and a good starter house. Let me know.
I am off to knit and watch the Three's Company marathon!

New Home!

We made an offer on a house this weekend. They accepted but the offer is contingent and we have to have our house on the market either Friday or Monday. We packed like nobody's business yesterday and of course all this is happening the week of our VIP parties at work so I will be working until 10pm every night this week. If you don't hear me thiss week, know that I am packing and cleaning and maybe sneaking in a minute or two of knitting.

Something Old, Something New and Something Frogged

Something Old- I have decided to give Something Red another shot. See "Something Frogged " for details.

Something New- I am wearing Thorn and Thistle today but forgot to take a pick this morning. I really am loving it even though it is a bit shorter than I would like. It is perfect for the weather we are having today, low 50's and a little rain.

Something Frogged- Cable Down raglan is no more. First of all, I did not like the way Cotton-ease was knitting up in this and then I noticed that I was knitting with one size 5 and one size 6 end of my denise's. That is a new one for me. I frogged it last night and wil give Something Red another try.

Button shopping

Time to head to Joann's and find a button for Thorn and Thistle. Yep, that is all I have left.

I started the Cabled-Down raglan from IK last night. I love knitting sweaters in the round and, yes, my sock mojo is still missing.

We packed our spare bedroom last night- well, 2 boxes were packed and 6 garbage bags headed to Goodwill. Why do we keep so much shit? We are looking at 2 more houses tomorrow and 1 for second time. I am ready to find a new house.

ready to seam

I have finished blocking Thorn and Thistle. Hopefully tonight, I can start finishing it. The Mix and Mingle blanket has seen the light of day and I have been knitting that for the last couple of nights. My sock mojo is gone. I am sure it will return.

I need that extra kick in the ass to start packing more. Out off all things in our house, I started with our office and packed up my yarn. I have kept it in a spot where I can easily access it. God knows it will be awhile before we are actually ready.

Blockin' and Packin'

The knitting is all done on Thorn and Thistle. Once I got going, it flew by. Now the sleeves are blocking. Not bad for my first lace sweater.

We have started to pack/pitch all the clutter in the house. We didn't find the perfect house this weekend but the realtor suggested that we start getting out house ready to sell. I didn't realize how much crap we have!

Retail Therapy

I hit the LYS on my way home last night and did a small amount of retail therapy. I have been eyeing the Duet Sock yarns online and finally saw them in person. This colorway grabbed my attention and I had to pick it up. Of course, that adds to my already too large sock yarn stash but it should be a good portable project for the move.

The realtors came over on Wed and looked at the house. We are meeting with them tomorrow to see what our asking price should be and to look at some more houses. We told step-son last night about the move and surprisingly, he took it very well. He is excited about a bigger bedroom and being closer to parks and school. I am really eager to hear what the realtors have to say.

health scare

I am not normally one to post this kind of stuff on my blog but please send any good thoughts this way. I am usually a healthy person but had a health scare this morning and will know more on Wednesday. Honestly, I am freaking out. I have never had any problems before.

Retail Therapy? I think this calls for it.
