We went to the Stitch n' Pitch event last night at the M's game. I really didn't think I would knit much since I love baseball and didn't want to get too distracted so I didn't bring my directions for the Queen Bee hat. I had 6 repeats to work on and knew that part so I figured I was good to go. Wrong! I was done with the repeats by the 3rd inning and was left knitless for the rest of the game. Oh well, I was just in awe being around that many knitters and their projects. I was really impressed. I think I may finally venture out to a Purly Girls meet-up on Monday.
In Sitcom Chic news, I finished one sleeve and have started the second.
I am eager to finished Sitcom Chic and not having size 5 DPNs, I went to Joann's to buy some cheap ones. No such luck. They carry size 3 and then jump to Size 8. Micheal's was right across the street so I headed over there. They only had size 8 and 11. So to the LYS I headed. I knew they would have some but I spent more than I really wanted to. (Maybe it is time to learn the Magic Loop Method). So last night I started the first sleeve, cursing the whole time about how much I dislike knitting with DPNs. I am hoping at some point I can change over to some circs to finish it.
I could not resist buying yarn at the LYS and got some Silky Wool for Branching Out. That maybe my next project to take on a vaca at the end of August.
Tomorrow is Stitch n Pitch!! Look for me in Section 341, Row 13, Seats 1/2. Thanks to my hubby for going with me!
You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting and do it all the time. While finishing a piece is the plan, you still love the process, and can't imagine a day going by without giving some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation involves leaving ample space for the stash and supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn ends and you begin.http://marniemaclean.com/
Midwest Moonlight is no longer. I frogged it Saturday after deciding that I used too small of needles and it just didn't look right.
I am at the point in Sitcom Chic where I start making the sleeves. One problem-I don't have size 5 DPN. oops. I guess I have a trip to Joann's in my future. At a stand still with that, I started the beehive hat from Stitch n Bitch Nation. I have half of a skein of cascade 220 so hopefully that will be enough. I feel like the knitting experiences lately have been pretty un-inspiring. I have frogged 2 projects in 2 weeks.
I did get my ticket for Stitch and Pitch on Thursday. I am so excited about that. I guess they were expecting to sell 200 tickets and have now sold over 1,200!
Finally back from Vegas and not any richer for it. We had a great time. We saw Tony and Tina's Wedding, did tons of people watching and drank more than I should have. Gald to be back in the 80 degree heat vs. the 115+ that we had every day there.
Not much in the knitting dept. I worked on Midwest Moonlight for about an hour on the flight down and have not touched it since. It may get frogged since I think I should have used bigger needles to get the more open work effect like in the book. Sitcom Chic is slowly being worked on for now. Once I recoup, I will get back into the swing of things.
I am off to Vegas tonight so no posts until Tuesday. Hopefully the blackjack tables won't eat me alive, the buffets will be limited and people watching will be plentiful.
So last night, I put my Sitcom Chic aside and started working on the Boobie Scarf while watching reruns of The Amazing Race. After 2 deformed boobies, I decided to frog the whole thing. Not too bad, it was only about 30 rows. I decided to knit Midwest Moonlight from Scarf Style instead. I think the gauge is off because the YO don't look very holey. I am using cascade 220 and size 6 needles. I am only doing 1 repeat on each row instead of 2 since I only have one skein. I am tempted to frog this one too and change the needles to a 7 or 8. I think this is all payback for not working on Sitcom Chic. Has any one knit MM with 220?
I am packed for Vegas after a depressing trip through the closet. It was tons to motivation for Weight Watchers. I need to get back on track. I go every week but don't really keep track of what I eat. We will see tomorrow what the scale says.
We have decided to leave for Vegas on Wed. instead of Thurs. That makes me even more excited! For $32 we can get an extra night. So for $68 we are staying for 5 nights and free airfare. Thanks hubby for working for an airline.
Sitcom Chic is on it's way. The body increase rows are done and I am know working on getting it to 14". Dreaded stockinette stitch. I hate purling!
The Boobie Scarf has been start for the plane ride and appropriately so just about every top I am bring on the trip is a v neck. HMMM is there a theme here?
Vegas is coming and I am so excited. Like usual, I am overthinking everything from outfits to what to knit on the plane. I am thinking of bringing the Boobie scarf from Knitty. Something small and portable.
I want to see the Pussycat Dolls but we will see what happens.
People watching, gambling and all around cheesiness. Vegas, I am ready!
Here is my finished One Skein Wonder. I used 2 skeins of Demin Silk in a lavender color and size 10.5 needles. I haven't worn it yet but I think it might be going with me to vegas along with yarn to make a second one on the plane ride. This was a quick and easy pattern to follow and I love it.
Sitcom Chic has begun. I am only about 20 rows into it but I am loving the Cotton-Ease yarn. I think the Lion Brand made me think it was a cheesy, difficult yarn to use. Karma has come to get me and of course, as soon as I realize I really like it-It's discontinued. I am sure I will find another yarn to fill the void.
When we bought our house, the neighborhood was quiet, clean and had no worries. So much has changed in the past 3 years. 2 of our neighbors have decided to rent their houses and move. The renter's have taken the street from quiet to noisy at all hours and from clean to a dump. Kid's ride their bikes while other kids try to hit them with sticks, a 6 yo has called my step-son a F***Face, nothing is offlimits. We now play "What will be in our driveway?" as we pull up to our house after work. So far we have found a rusty pipe, a broken planter from our yard, a shopping cart and last night, a crutch. Other neighbors have almost been hit by chicken legs flying over their fence (I kid you not) and have called to owners to complain but nothing has been done. Just a few minutes ago, my husband caught someone relieving themselves on the house next door. This was not a kid, but someone who looked to be about 35! Friday nights seem to be the night where people drive down the street, honk and wait for someone to run out of the house, hand them something and leave. HMMMM......I am so ready to move but housing prices have gone so far up that we could not afford the same size house that we have now. Has anyone successfully dealtwith annoying neighbors? What did you do?
In knitting related news- I went to Skeins/HIlltop sale on Sat. and got some great deals on some Cascade 220 for a sweater to be determined, and found some cashmere/cotton blend for $2 a skein! I have also finished my OSW and started on Sitcom Chic. Maybe the knitting will calm me down.
I am a 34 year old Casino Marketing Manager from Seattle who loves to knit; not to mention stash yarn, read about knitting and annoy my family by obsessing over it.
