Wrist Warmers

New camera and a new finished project. This is the Irish Walking Wrist Warmer and they are great. Now I can keep my hands warm in my sub-freezing office.

I have jury duty statring on Wed. and I will be bringing my knitting with me. Something mindless and something that I will not have to click my row counter on- either the last of the Christmas Stockings, a hat or a scarf.

I used my $100 b-day cash to by some KnitPicks yarns. It was enough for another Clapotis, a zig-zag scarf and a misty garden from Scarf Style and 2 sweaters from the 1000 sweater book. That should keep my busy!

Where to Start

Yesterday I purchases 1000 Sweaters and cannot stop thinking of the great sweaters to be had. I got $100 from my in-laws for my b-day so I think a KnitPicks order is in my future. I figure I can buy yarn for 2 sweaters from the book, the Mary Jane cardigan, a clapotis and 2 scarves from Scarf Style. Is that orgasmic to anyone else?

Back to Work....

Here I am back at work after a great 4 day weekend. It all started on Friday when my hubby and step-son went to Whole Foods and bought me an early b-day lunch and my favorite vegan chocolate cake. YUM!!!! I unwrapped some b-day gifts and we headed to my parents for dinner.

Saturday was Christmas for us since my step-son would be at his mom's on Christmas this year. I got some great things including a karaoke machine (now I realize how much I suck at singing), clothes, and the Playboy Mansion game for Xbox which I played for about an hour before we headed over to the inlaws for Xmas eve dinner/b-day celebration.

Sunday morning was pretty un-eventful. We comtemplated going to the local casino to see who actually goes to gambles on Christmas morning but instead just hung out until noon when we went to my parents for Christmas dinner/more b-day celebration. I got a new digital camera so more pics are promised.

After 3 days for eating, presents and driving, we took it easy yesterday. Went to Target in the morning and vegged the rest of the day. I finished a Irish Walking Wrist Warmer and we watched Police Academy 2 and 3. I don't know why but we are anxious to get the rest from Netflix. They are so bad but we have not seen them for a while and my step-son enjoys them but we will not let him watch the first one.

Long Week...

This week just seems to be dragging on. I have Friday off but it still seems longer than normal. I have gotten off work early the past 2 days too. We had our Christmas lunch at work yesterday and tonight is the last of the Christmas parties. Tomorrow should be an easy day too but I cannot wait for the weekend. I really like Christmas and it is my B-day too! I guess we are celebrating on Friday but I don't know what we are doing.

I am determined to finshed the Mini-sweater. I have another inch or so to work on the bady and then BO. Yippee! I really want to work on something that is more than just stockinette. I will post a pic when it is done. I just realized I haven't posted any pictures of this yet.

Free $5 Tea Gift Certificate

I just tried Adagio teas and they are soo yummy. I was introduced to them with a free $5 gift certificate and can offer you the same. Just email me and I will send one your way!

I have worked a bit on the mini-sweater as a break from the Christmas Stockings. I am just about finished. The sleeves are done and I am just figuring out the length. I think this will be a normal length sweater.

I have started the last stocking and the second one is finished being knit but needs all the details added.

Yesterday, my brothers and I got together for a picture with Santa. We went every year until I got married and got back together to get it taken. I think my mom and dad will like it. Nothing like 31, 27 and 24 year olds waiting in line with a bunch of kids to see Santa.

I saw Mamma Mia on Sat. and while it was light on story, it was great. I love ABBA! The way the songs wove into the story were hilarious. I would see it again.

No Knitting Last Night

No knitting but I have everything wrapped and ready for Christmas! Tonight I will get moving on the final steps of Christmas stocking #1. I have the 2nd of 3 employee Christmas parties tonight but I am not planning on staying long so I can get home and play nurse for my recovering hubby.

Toys for Tots is in desperate need of toys this year. So off I go to Target to pick some up. Last year we made cookies for the local fire department so I think we will do a joint drop off this weekend.

I'm super! Thanks for asking.

I found this on Jessica's blog. Build your own South Park Character.

I thought I would make the typical person walking the streets by our house. Got to love that!

Hubby is doing well after the surgery. He had 2 gall stones. The Dr. brought on out to show us and it was about 4 inches around. Ouch! He is still sore but relieved it is over.

I finished knitting his Christmas stocking and worked a bit on the mini-sweater (4 rows).

How did they know?

Your Christmas is Most Like: A Very Brady Christmas

For you, it's all about sharing times with family.
Even if you all get a bit cheesy at times.

My Heart will be Blessed with the Sound of Music

Yesterday we went to see The Sound of Music. We have taken my step-son to see Oklahoma and The Wizard of Oz but I wasn't sure how much he would like this one. Turns out he liked it and asked if it was a movie and if we have it. Of course we do! Next up for him- Les Miz in May. For us- Mamma Mia this weekend, if all goes well with the surgery tomorrow. I called my parents as a back-up incase my hubby isn't up to par by then.

I started the finishing on Stocking #1 but ran into a roadblock when I found I didn't have any orange yarn for the nose of the snowman. Bring out the kool-aid! Why buy a full skein for only 10 yds? Once it drys, I will work on finishing again.

Stockings x3

I am about half way done with Christmas Stocking #2. I might actually gets these done for this year. Initially, I thought I would work on them and it they weren't finished, we could use the old ones for another year. The red stocking and snowman for it are knit. I just need to do the finishing and knit the i-cord for it. Oh, finishing......... I really don't like it. Maybe if I get inspired tonight I will start on it and spread it out over a few days. Now that they are going so quickly, I really want to have them done in the next week or so.

Yarn Diet news

So, back in Oct. I put myself on a yarn diet. No more yarn until I lost 8 lbs. Well, I thought today I would check in. I have found excuses to buy yarn since- gifts, for family Christmas stocking- and have a big stash so I have not felt deprived and it shows. My I am down 1 lbs since Oct. In that time, I have had some interesting weeks:

Week 1: -0.6
Week 2: +0.2
Week 3: +1.8
Week 4: -1.2
Week 5: +2
Week 6: -2.4
Week 7: +0.2
Week 8: -0.8

Overall I have gained 4.2 lbs and lost 5 lbs. Talk about a yo-yo. I feel focused now and ready to buckle down. 7 more lbs to go.

Finished and almost finished stuff

When it rains, it pours. Here are pics of recently finished stuff (hats, scarf, Twisty Turns...) and the Christmas stocking I finshed knitting last night. Just need to do the finishing. Should I block it before seaming? The snowman is sew on before the seams are sewn.

Back on Track

After sidetracks, boredom and just plain laziness, I feel like I am finally back on track with my knitting. I am nearly done with body of the first of 3 Christmas stockings. It is amazing how quickly it goes when I actualy devote a block of time to it. We decided to go with the Snowman stocking from the Interweave Christmas Stocking book. A good comprimise for all. One in red, one green and one blue.

I know my pics are falling behind. Tonight I have some free time and will take a few.

Twisty Turns on KnitPicks

While scanning knitpicks.com I can across i picture of Twisty Turns in the exact color I made mine in. I have been bad about getting a pic up for this. I need to get on the ball with that. In the meantime, here is the Knit Picks version.

Gall Bladder surgery is set for next Tuesday. I am taking the day off to drive hubby there and back. I am going to be sure to bring my knitting since I will be in the waiting room a while.

Long Weekend

I had a longer than expected weekend that started with a call to 911.

Thursday night we went out to dinner and got our Christmas tree. Family fun time. Around 2am my husband woke my up to tell me his chest was feeling tight but I didn't need to take him to the dr. He was breathing fine and wasn't hurting anyplace else. After about an hour, it got better but I got another wake-up call at 4am. It was back and worse. I called 911 and woke up my step-son to let him know what was going on without scaring him too much. About 5 minutes later a fire truck with it's lights flashing rolled up to our house. By this time, my husband said he was feeling better but I told him"Tough shit. We have to figure out what is going on." Luckily it wasn't anything heart related but the paramedics thought we should get him to the emergency room becasue it may be gall bladder related. I call my in-laws to watch my step-son and drop him off there and get my husband to the ER. After 5 hours in the emergency room, it turns out he has 2 gall stones and needs to get his gall bladder removed. We are going today to set up the surgery. The pain has come and gone a few times in the past couple of days. I just want him to be healthy. At least more questions will be answered today. I LOVE YOU JASON!!!

Playing nurse has given me some more knitting time, I started Christmas stockings on Sat. after making a trip to Weaving Works to buy the yarn and then getting a $30 parking ticket. I can't bitch. I did park in the lot across the street that was only for Safeway customers. I guess I have to pay it and move on.

A Night without Knitting?

Yes, it is true. Last night was the first one in a while without some knitting taking place. We bought tickets to The Sound of Music, had dinner and by 7pm I was pooped. Why? I have no idea. We watched part of the Rockefellar Christmas Tree lighting but had to change the station when Santa started singing with the Rockettes. WOW! Someone should ginve Santa singing lessons for Christmas.

I did just get an "atta boy" at work getting getting 10% our employee gifts at Best Buy. That made my day.
