Vacation knits

As promised here are some pics of the knitting I did on vacation. I haven't felted the buttonhole bag yet ( maybe tonight). I am not sure about it but maybe I will change my mind after it is felted. This was a really quick pattern and I could see making these for gifts down the line.

My 3rd Clapotis is on its way. I have dropped 2 stitches so far. It is looking kind of like camoflage (not my favorite look) but I held it up to some khaki pants and I like it.

My stash increased by 2 yesterday. I went to Pastimes and bought some 220 for Bad Penny. I already have the brown for the main body and wanted some lavendar for the trim. Does that count as breaking my yarn diet?

Back to reality

Back from a good vacation. Swam, golfed, and just plain relaxed. I was so ready to sleep in my own bed after 7 night on an air mattress. The whole family has colds now too. woo hoo- welcome back!

It is amazing how after a week in a retreat-like setting your house and neighborhood can really look like a dump. As soon as we got off the freeway, the differences were so clear. Vacation: families, nice houses, swimming pools, lakes... Neighborhood: hookers, cars parked on lawns, empty pizza boxes in the street.... You get the picture. How can a neighborhood get so trashed in 2 years? If was fine when we moved in.

Knitting news: I finished the buttonhole bag on the car ride to Oregon (and I was worried I brought too much to do) I started Clapotis #3. There was a yarn store in town and was very tempted with the whole no tax thing but I figured I coudl still get more for my $ if I waited for the Pastimes sale in Sept. My will power is back!!!

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho-It's off to Oregon I go

We are leaving for Oregon and will be gone for a week so no posts until then. While I am gone, here are some pics to ponder.

First of all thanks to Knitapalooza for these great stitch markers, part of the stitch marker swap on Knitty. I got 7 total and love them. Perfect for bigger needle projects!

I have finished my OSW with the kool-aid yarn and while I could have made it a size bigger, I still love it. I have so many single skeins, I see many of these in the works. Here is a close up:

I brought 2 projects for the trip- buttonhole bag and Clapotis #3. I doubt I will even get one done but better to be safe then sorry. Hope everyone has a great week I wil post after the 28th with updates.

No control

After telling myself that I could not start a new project this week, I gave in and started a OSW with my red kool-aid yarn. I am LOVING it!! Although last night, karma hit and I had to frog about 8 rows because somehow my increases didn't line up on one side. Of course, I noticed it right before I was going to go to bed but could not let it sit until the morning. It is all fixed now and just about ready for the edging.

We are off on vacation next week and have not starting packing. A list is made but that is as far as it has gone. I did some laundry last night so that was a start. I have a feeling Saturday night will be a packing frenzy.

Pics!

No these are not giant lollipops. It is my Kool-aid dyed yarn. I love the red! I am going to start a buttonhole bag with the teal sometime this week. Here are pics of the baby pants and the scarves I finished last week.

For the first time in about 3 weeks, I did not knit yesterday. We went out to dinner in Seattle and came home and watched Meet the Fockers. Well, I watched the first half since I fell Asleep on the couch like an old lady. Welcome back, Honey!

Lots Done and To Do List

Hubby is back with the camera so I will post pics soon. I got a ton of knitting done in the past week. I finished the cable scarf and the pink stash-busting scarf which left Branching Out as the only project on the needles. Like a fool though I started another project. I was invited to baby shower and used my leftover Cotton-Ease from Sitcom Chic to make a pair of pants for the baby. I started Friday night and by Sunday morning they were finished including the sewing.
I also dyed some yarn with Kool-Aid on Saturday (as my still pink fingernails are evidence of). I love one skein and am moderately liking the other. All this yarn made me decide to actually list my future project so I don't get too distracted. Here it goes:

OSW in red/purple kool-aid yarn
Buttonhole Bag in Pink/Tuq kool-aid and natural yarn
Clapotis #3 with Sock Memories Yarn
Entrelac scarf with Silk Garden
To Dye For with yarn from recycled Goodwill sweater
Fishes for Fish Blanket with scraps
unknown project for the 6 skeins of brown Cascade 220

My goal is to work only on Branching Out this week and maybe start the Buttonhole Bag on the car trip to Oregon next week. We'll see...........

Twice in a week!

I am notorious for not wearing things I knit. This week I am broken that pattern and am wearing my second knit item this week. My OSW happened to perfectly match the shirt I am wearing, so what the hell? I threw it on this morning and Voila!

Having this week all to myself at home has meant serious knitting. I think I am slowly drifting into potential unfinished project territory though. I started with 2 scarves on the needles and finished one. Do I move on to finishing the other? Nooooo! I start a new scarf (trying to de-stash my multitude of single skeins). As if that isn't enough, last night I started a baby shower gift with the leftover Cotton-Ease from my Sitcom Chic. So I now have 3 project in the works. No more new project for me until I finished at least 2 of them. Practice self-control.

I am actually wearing it!

I am wearing sitcom chic to work today. It is overcast and I thought it would be a perfect day to try it out. I am walking a little taller wearing something I made.

I worked on Branching Out last night. I got another 3 pattern repeats done. I also worked a bit on the cable scarf. I hope to have that done by the end of the week.

Question: What can I make with 3 skeins of Silk Garden? Not enough for a mini-sweater but I don't really need another scarf or hat. Help!

FO pics!

After a week without the camera, here, finally, are the pics of my finished Sitcom Chic and Bzzzz hat. I really like the sweater and if it wasn't so hot, I would have worn it to work today.

Off to the Beach!

It's Seafair weekend and for us that means- Get out of town! We are headed to Westport for the annual Chainsaw Carving Competition and Oyster Feed. We stumbled upon this about 5 years ago and have gone every year since. It is a little corny but it is amazing what people can do with 4 days, a big stump and a chainsaw. Every day the carvers spend an hour on a small carving and they have an auction at the end of the day. Every year, my husband threatens to come home with a bench. I hope this year isn't the year the threat become reality.

Knitting-wise I am bringing scraps to knit more fish for the blanket and the cable scarf. With the 2 hour car ride, I should get lots done.

Sitcom Chic!

I have finished my Sitcom Chic and really like it. I think it is something I might actually wear. I just need to press the front edges. I will post pics as soon as my hubby gets back tonight with the camera.

I have felt so out of the loop with movies lately and being home alone gives me perfect time to catch up. I finally saw Sideways last night and Love Actually the night before. (told you I was lagging behind)

I have also start 2 new scarves- Branching Out (for when I want to concentrate on knitting) and a single cable scarf (for when I want something semi-brainless).

First trip to Purly Girls

Every Monday, the Purly Girls meet here in Seattle. I have often thought about dropping in but didn't do it until tonight. Husband's out of town- perfect chance. Well, sorry honey because it looks like every Monday will now be spent knitting with the group. This is the knitting release I needed. I had a great time and got so much done. There is a light at the end of the Sitcom Chic tunnel. It should be done by the end of the week.

Of course, being on Queen Anne, I had to go to Hilltop Yarn. I picked up a cabled scarf pattern and some Cascade 220 and a pink speckled clearance yarn to go with some pink in my stash. (for what, who knows?)

1 down. 1 to go

I finished my Bzzz Hat on Friday night. As much as I like variety, I don't like to have more than 1 small and 1 big project going on at the same time so getting it done felt great. It is a little "Where's Waldo"-y but at least it isn't red and white.

I also joined the sleeves on my Sitcom Chic. This is the first sweater other than the Boobholder that I have made. I think it will turn out great but the immediate gratification of the smaller projects is missing. I am determined to finish before I start another project.
