Is there such a thing as yarn mojo?
I have been trying to knit from my stash. I just finished Rusted Root from Cotton Fleece stashed for over a year and a half. So when I saw the picture of Stefanie Japel's Petal, I went through my stash to pick the yarn. I found some Cotton-ease. This Cotton-ease was once Sitcom Chic and then frogged. I have knit Something Red with part of the stash and never wear it. It seems that no matter what I knit with it, I am disappointed. Is it the yarn/pattern combo or could it be that the yarn just has bad mojo? I have looked at other yarn options at the store- Moda Dea Silk 'n Wool and Cascade 220 Paint. Any suggestions? Do I just give up on Cotton-ease and get the mojo out of the house or do I give this yarn a 3rd chance?

3rd time might be the charm? After that though, it's toast :) I am working with cotton ease for the first time right now and I'm not at all sure about it.

Are the patterns you pick actually things that go with your lifestyle? I've had issues with both wardrobe buys and pattern buys when I picked up things I wished I could wear... but that don't fit into my lifestyle as it really is. Give it another try and see how you do. But if you hate handwashing and none of your yarn is superwash, or if all you have is patterns for tight sweaters and you work in a place with a no tight clothes policy, a stash inventory/purge makes sense.
Or it may just be that this yarn was waiting for the perfect pattern to come along. That, too, happens.
